Doris Dare

Bio:

Doris is a South Carolina native and has spent most of her life in the Lowcountry. She and her family recently moved to Travelers Rest but her time spent in the Lowcountry is still reflected in her art.

Her parents often said that she began drawing long before she could even write and she loved mailing her creations to her favorite Aunt – after her Mom addressed the envelope!

She attended the Art Institute of Minneapolis via correspondence while still in High School, which allowed her to master new mediums such as pen & ink and acrylics.

Her current passion is watercolor and you can often find her creating in her home studio.

Artist’s Statement

I’ve always been mesmerized by color – and the way light bounces off of and changes it. Laying color down on paper fills me with joy; the kind of joy that must be shared with others – like you!
