Artist Statement

My art is a celebration of the vibrant, interconnected rhythms of nature.

After spending over twenty years as a kitchen and bath designer balancing structural rules and functional spatial flow, my retirement has opened the door to an entirely new creative language.

Transitioning from the precise lines of technical drafting to the fluid, intuitive world of mixed media painting allows me to interact with color, texture, and subject matter with complete freedom.

I draw endless inspiration from my immediate surroundings. My everyday world-from a lively flock of backyard chickens to the blooming botanicals and wild birds nesting in the foliage-serves as both my subject matter and my sanctuary. I approach the canvas not to create a literal representation, but to capture the raw energy, mood, and movement of these living things.

Working with an expressive palette of bold colors, layered textures, and heavy, gestural outlines, I look for the extraordinary within the ordinary. The structured compositions of my past design career still influence how I arrange space, but my brushstrokes are now guided by pure instinct and emotion. Ultimately, each piece is a reflection of gratitude-a visual diary of a beautiful, passionate life built around nature, animals, art, and the warmth of a deeply rooted home.
